After a very good night's sleep, we headed out rather later than we'd planned to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina--about an hour away. Myrtle Beach has very many attractions, some free, of which we ended up seeing one (not a free one). And we didn't actually end up going to the beach there. We did have fun, though!
What happened is that we did an online search for a visitor's center, figuring that we'd go and figure out what we wanted to do in town, and maybe find some coupons amongst the brochures. Well, Google brought up *two* visitor's centers, so I picked the one with "Official" in the name, thinking that that one would be, well, the official one--chamber of commerce type. We talked some with the woman at the desk, telling her that we were looking for something on the less expensive side, as well as general small talk. She mentioned that she could find us some deep discounts. OK, cool, let's see what can be found! She found us a really cool place ( https://www.wonderworksonline.com/myrtle-beach/ ) for which she could get all of us (4 adults (while PaperKid's not an adult-adult, she's an entry-fee-adult) and 1 child) for the price of less than one admission. Plus $50 towards dinner.
Some of you may be sensing a catch.
Turned out that we would need to sit through, basically, a time share presentation (Not *quite* a time share, as it was a program that gives access to lots of different destinations, not just one, but, eh, close enough.) So, we did--and, in the car, on the way over, we all agreed that, no matter what, the answer was "No". We got lunch out of it, too. I will say that the woman was correct in that it wasn't a strong-arm sales pitch, but they certainly did try to persuade us.
WonderWorks was really fun. It was definitely worth 2 hours of saying "No" and $30. I do think that, had we paid full price, or even the price from a coupon book, it could've been a little disappointing.
The $50 towards dinner was $50 in gift cards to Margaritaville. The food was good, but you were definitely paying for the decor--instead of the gift cards covering most of the dinner, we ended up paying as much out of pocket there as we did anywhere else, and we hadn't gone extravagant...

WonderWorks does look interesting - sounds a bit like the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry hands-on zone
Why would it have been disappointing if you had paid more than $30? Were some of the items broken?
That is the tricky thing with vouchers, that they quite often give you discount on things that are more expensive anyway... Sounds like an experience, anyway, to try somewhere you wouldn't otherwise have gone
