'Breaking news' for you. Also something for the 'Fake News' category.

I realise the war isn't over yet, but this way you can get in on the fun before it's too late. smiley - winkeye

That was a nice read, both informative and fun.
I like how you explain things for the non-USAians smiley - ok

Reminds me of an old joke:
an American asks a Briton "do you guys also celebrate July 4th?",
and the Briton replies "yes, we call it Thanksgiving!"

smiley - snork I like that one.

Somebody posted a Union Jack with a text something like, 'Happy 4th of July, Traitors!' on Twitter yesterday. The Guide gave it a like. smiley - winkeye

A great, fun Entry.

My only suggestion is all of your 'letters' seem to come from one side, I would like to see a few missives from the troops defending the Government. All in good fun, but we should have a little balancesmiley - smiley

Did you mean a tweet on one of these threads that's obviously written from a conservative political point of view? Can't find any, other than a couple by people who said they were Republicans, but still thought the game was amusing, as I pointed out.

Or did you mean from players pretending to be in the fictional Red Hat Army? There are quite a few of them, I just didn't think they were as funny or illustrative as the ones I quoted.

If you can find an example you like, let me know. smiley - smiley

I don't follow Twitter myself, so unless I stumble upon something I am unlikely to help.

I did see a link to this, and I remember a few posts like 'We have cut them off from theirs safe-places' and 'we captured the Starbucks'

I thought the most interesting thing about Ken Burn's letters was that they reflected both sides.

I agree that anyone who brings current politics into this is just spoiling the fun.

Maybe a few 'Red Hat' would be good, but I would like to an introduction that there is another flank (side) in the war smiley - smiley

I hunted for hours, and couldn't find anything but more jokes. smiley - puff I have thrown in a few - and a quote - from the Memphis Commercial Appeal, a Gannett paper, for what that's worth.

As this isn't about a real war, but about the claim made by Alex Jones that the country was going to *be* at war, I dion't want to validate it by creating a false dichotomy. It's *not* about political issues, it's about razzing Alex Jones. Yeah, I know, fish, barrel. But hey, it was hot this week.

In fact, the more of the posts I read, the more convinced I became that people with a variety of different views may have been behind the jokes.

What I *will* do is make sure that it's clear that these stereotypes are not, in fact, real things...

As my Freshman US History professor once intoned with his pipe between his teeth, 'You understand that we can't reify these definitions...'

You should put in a footnote, or a link explaining what 'Ashokan' really is.

Okay, Ashokan Farewell duly linked once more for our re-enactor friends. smiley - winkeye I was impressed when I first looked it up, because I didn't know there was a fiddle camp in New Paltz.

While I was at it, I added a footnote about the Cracker Barrel, because I remembered what this entry was supposed to be about - which was Murrica-splaining all this nonsense for clueless furriners. smiley - laugh

Well the great orange narcissist will spend as little time as possible in London to avoid protesters. I find it hard to believe that the queen queen queen would be willing to meet him. I am sure she'd rather play with her corgies.

Only one point that wasn't clear to me:

"Both sides 'suffered' ( meme borrowed from real Civil War letters) from melodramatic deprivation " - what meme?
