The photo shows one of the old AP1-88s that date from the 1980s-1990s. Of the 8 to have served the Island two are still going ('Freedom 90' and 'Island Express', sadly 'Double-O-Seven' retired a couple of years ago) but there are two 12000TDs built in 2016 on the route now ('Island Flyer' and 'Solent Flyer').

It is a great photo - the pier in the background is perfect to divide the picture into sea and sky, and the action of the hovercraft is captured well 
Yes, I enjoyed how the Isle of Wight felt like going back in time (but with just enough modern accessibility for me to be OK)

Sasha it is just the way I found it. It is the nerest thing to a Tardis, it has the benifit of putting off the antisocial element.
