I'm terrible. I daydream - tell myself stories as I do other things. Housework in particular because it's so boring, it leaves a nice big space to fill up with stories.
There are two problems with this. Firstly, if people really knew what was going on my head, they might send for a psychiatrist .
Second, you risk missing things. So while you're walking down the street telling yourself stories, you miss the sunshine on the pond, the colour of those autumn trees, that hole in the road. Aaaagh!

I'm quite at home talking to myself, years of commentary on the roads to get the point over to my ducklings. Telling the same tale to different audiences is a great idea.

I don't know why you would - miss anything, I mean. I can enjoy the sunshine on water without concentrating on only that.
Wait...let Data tell it:

On the other hand, I can't read a book while walking...I tried it when I was a kid, and ran into a telephone pole. But I can make up a story to write while walking, and still enjoy the view.
Now, I can't do anything about what other people would think about what's going on in my head - but then, I don't really care what they think. If I think they might try to do something about it, I just don't tell them.
There's a lot to be said for pseudonyms...
