Just to explain, the Island's mainline has used secondhand 1938 London Underground carriages since they raised the level of the Ryde Tunnel to prevent flooding. As they are 80-years-old the carriages are 20-30 years older than the mainstay of the UK's heritage railways, the Mk I carriage. The Isle of Wight is the only mainline railway in the UK to operate only pre-war stock, and they complain about a lack of rail investment in the north of England...
Mind you, the Island's railway has been electric for over 50 years and there are numerous parts of the mainland that electricity hasn't reached yet.
