Warning: only 25% of songs on this album hadn't appeared on previous compilations and/or live albums. However as the album accompanies the Blue Album it would be incomplete not to cover this album too.

Aha - the companion to the Blue Album smiley - ok Good to see this in Peer Review smiley - biggrin

"it surprised everyone to become a number three in both the UK" - is something missing there, or is it just that "both" needs deleting?

" 'Please', another of John's mother's favourite songs" - 'one' of John's mother's favourite songs?

Is it house style to say Number One, or Number 1 single? I see you use a variety here...

For house style the woo woo quote should be in single quotes rather than italics, please. Also Paul's quote about 'All my loving'(italics are needed only in blockquotes)

" Paul later performed this song, the only from With the Beatles on the album" - something missing here.

In the Eleanor Rigby section it is Farenheit 451. I think it would help if you mention what month Oldies was released.

I do recognise most of these descriptions having read your other recent compilation Entries, but like how you include interesting details that are worth mentioning for completeness smiley - ok

Dr E Vibenstein (You know it is, it really is.)

Am I right in thinking there was some kind of legal stipulation that the 1993 CD release had to be in exactly the same format as the original vinyl, i.e. a double CD set, even though all the tracks would have fitted easily on a single CD?

After the Beatles renegotiated their contract in 1967 they had a lot of contractual obligations specifying how their albums would be released, including things like specifying that 'Sgt. Pepper's' has to be released in a cardboard sleeve, mainly to ensure that they weren't changed. So yes, there were contractual specifications to stop double-albums being released as single albums that were intended to ensure songs weren't left off, but of course it didn't take into account how technology changed.smiley - shrug
