A very enjoyable report Quite a contrast between when Peer Review started to now (which makes me wonder whether there's a list somewhere of entries that went through the old reviewing process somewhere, as if they were submitted and rejected then potentially they'd be eligible for the Flea Market).
Anyway, now that this is published we can start moving AWW entries into the <./>writing-fleamarket</.>

There's to be a Writing Fleamarket too?
Some of my favourite EGEs have been FM rescues.
It is interesting about the length of entries. They are getting longer and better researched, but I hope that isn't putting off new Researchers from tapping out an outline (see, Dmitri, I do listen!) and getting an Entry started.

Thanks <BB<! Glad you enjoyed reading it - I certainly enjoyed writing it. I kept up the tradition of SuperMarket being out of date when it was published, as one Entry was picked in the meantime so Peer Review only contained 26 Entries, but it was good of you not to transfer the AWW Entries until after publication
Interesting thought about the process pre Peer Review... I shall ponder that and try to see from h2g2 history if there is any way to tell what was submitted to the Powers that Be...
In that vein, Mostly Harmless Entries from those days should perhaps get listed in Flea Market to encourage someone to do better, but I'm not sure how that could be done... More pondering needed...

Hi Vip! Thanks for reading, and good to see you around. writing-fleamarket is just the codename for the Flea Market, but this is proving a good opportunity to promote it a bit more, as <BB< is doing excellent work at rounding up lost fleas
I agree that FM rescues do make good Entries I certainly learned about events I wasn't aware of myself before doing a rescue and it is a pleasure to help a flea get over the hurdle of being written for the Edited Guide.
I hope that Peer Review is seen as a friendly place these days, but it is still a challenging process (the kind of challenge I love, but not for everyone, I see). Interesting thoughts about people potentially not knowing how to get started on writing for the Guide and getting put off at the first hurdle...

'<./>Writing-fleamarket</.>' is the Flea Market's full name if you want to create a clickable link, although it might only work in the real skins and not Pliny.
But you're right, starting an entry is usually the hardest step, and I do enjoy breathing new life into entries that have laid forgotten and dormant for decades.
And now is the perfect time to attempt a Flea Market rescue – help us have our 300th rescue by the end of the year! We're currently at 294, there are 5 Flea Market rescues that have been Recommended and are awaiting the front page, which means that potentially if you do a Rescue Attempt NOW then you might well be number 300

Ah, I thought you meant AWW entries would have their own Alternative flea market, good to have that clarified! Oops!
If I have the time, BB I will, but with house moves and new qualifications time is something I am going to be short on this year!!

I don't think there'd be any need for a Flea Market specifically for the Alternative Writing Workshop until things happened with the entries in the AWW – they just seem to wait there indefinitely, with the lucky ones making .
That said, Sasha and I have started moving entries that are in the AWW that we feel should have gone to Peer Review instead into the Flea Market so that they can be rescued.
