I just completed the first official step to help a friend medically (the first unofficial step being to message daughter-of-friend-who-is-also-a-friend that yes, I have O+ blood and would like some more information). I filled out a survey/questionnaire to become a living liver donor. I actually had to do a little research to do so--I learned that my rosacea could possibly maybe be auto-immune related, so I answered "Yes" to that question, and entered "Rosacea" into the "Other" slot. Filling out the survey doesn't commit me to anything, at this point. As the information indicates that I probably wouldn't be able to return to work for 6 weeks after the surgery (after all, half a liver can't be removed laproscopically, I presume), I do hope that there is a better match than I. We could likely make it without 6 weeks of my earnings (since this would be elective surgery on my part), but adding to savings would likely just not happen--and there *is* a rather major expense planned for next summer...
