This is a bit of a crazy workplace - big media organisation.
Speaking of lifts, the ones at their other London office are notorious for going crazy. They installed a so-called intelligent system a couple of years ago. When you press a button to call a lift, one doesn't automatically stop for you. It holistically assesses how many buttons have been pressed on all floors, as well as the content of each lift and where they might be going to, then uses quantum mechanics to decide which floor to race to. Productivity halved, but there was so much chatting and socialising going on in the lobbies that approximately 25% of staff eventually married each other.
