'It is always a pleasure spending time at the coast looking across the Solent to the Isle of Wight'

I'm glad you had a good time. We've taken the children to see falconry displays before, which they've enjoyed (although the last one we went to involved a long lecture in which we were repeatedly told that it should only ever be called 'falconry' if a bird of prey is being used to hunt with, otherwise it is a bird flying demonstration.)

Fishbourne is definitely truly impressive, and I'm glad you think I'm used to you by now too smiley - smileysmiley - hug

Yes, we saw one bit of falconry but they were mostly flying demonstrations (and they didn't feel the need to give us a lecture about that, which was good, as that would be a bit much...)

I definitely need to see what it is like on the Isle of Wight looking across the Solent to Southampton somewhen too...

Anyway, I'm looking forward to my next trip to Eastleigh and hope to see you then smiley - oksmiley - hugsmiley - biggrin

Serpent-crushing and falconry on the same day? That's enough excitement to make Charlotte Yonge swoon.
People don't really 'swoon' any more. I might see how many times I can say 'swoon' in everyday conversation without anyone noticing…

Alas, looking from the Island to Southampton isn't so pleasant a view as Fawley oil refinery and the closed power station (with the giant chimney nicknamed the Giant Cigarette) is in the way – although the refinery's flames can look quite pretty at night.

Yes, Charlotte would have swooned indeed!

I played a roleplay on the Beeb messageboards in the olden days and much swooning on to a chaise longue occurred in that (a cabaret restaurant where the staff and the guests would be quite overcome by the entertainment on occasion) so I used to say 'swoon' a lot in conversation too and nobody seemed to notice smiley - laugh

Ah, so a quick glimpse of the mainland will be quite sufficient when I visit the Island somewhen, giving more time to enjoy the places of interest over there smiley - ok

I've not been able to work 'swoon' into conversation – I've not really had any long conversations today…

If you're ever on the Island wanting to look at the mainland, I think the best view is probably from the west towards Hurst Castle. Or across to Pompey, which is dominated by the Spinnaker Tower.

smiley - laugh Excellent!

smiley - loveblush Reminds me of my darling and me, that story, and I was so lucky that exchanging e-mail addresses was so very worthwhile. I did find it hard to play-act our relationship online after we met in real life because I wasn't just pretending to be a 'good old fashioned lover boy' after all, so I went shy without a character to hide behind, but we did enjoy a few more virtual dances in public before the Beeb deleted the messageboards smiley - loveblush

Today's challenge – can you get the phrase 'Nothing in the world can stop me now!' into everyday conversation.

Sometimes I wish I had a job which involved talking to people...
