Hi bob, have my daughters wedding at the weekend, no pressure there then to get some good shots! I have learnt something new though that may fit into the entry.

Newfangled idea.. There's an iPhone app called wedpics that she's asking everyone to download and put all the pics taken on phones etc, viola instant photo album, instant access for everyone around the world who can't make the venue! Still having a "proper" album but it'll be nice to see what everyone else snaps!

She's also having FaceTime running so friends and family can watch the ceremony live, oh the joys of the Internet eh? smiley - cheers

Additional to taking several shots, if you can review them there and then, do so. When you're back home and find out that you've cropped the top or bottom off something it's not always as easy to go back and take another set of shots.
I've got a small netbook I can hook the camera into and quickly check the shots on.

Here's a tip: don't let your toddler children bury your digital camera in the sand while you're not looking, as it'll never be the same again...

I really like this bit:
'it has never been easier to create fabulous images. Free from the dark art to developing and printing your own work, to avoid the often disappointing results from film labs. No more long waits to see your work, and no more long experimental sessions in the darkroom to get the image just right, or the way you intended, which was not always the same thing! And once you have a digital camera, a PC or laptop and a decent photo editing software, it is free. Well, almost.'

I think I'd like to see this as the opening paragraph. That way also the two paragraphs currently either side of it would be next to each other, and as they both are about storage and photo sharing I think they flow well together.

Let me know what you think.

Gnomon - time to move on

Hi bob!

Respect for tackling such a vast task! smiley - ok

Your formatting is over the top. You should strip it down to the bare minimum:

Three sorts of title:

HEADER
SUBHEADER
SUBSUBHEADER

Since there is no GuideML code for the subsubheader, use P and B at the start and /B and /P at the end.

All titles should be lowercase but with capitals at the start of each word (except for small words like and, or and the).

Remove all those extra things you have such as Centring of titles and section dividers made with the letter O.

Remove the header at the very start, since it is the same as the name of the entry.

Credits: the purpose of the credits tag is to thank people who have contributed, but not enough to be an author, or who have added other things such as pictures. You don't need to add a credit for anyone who is listed as an author.

I also think that you should not list who contributed each tip - it's enough that they are made an author or listed in the credits section.

The Credits section comes _after_ the /BODY tag and shouldn't have any text attached to it. It is just a straight GuideML list.

OK, now onto the text of the entry.

"One thing that has become clear as this entry has developed, is safe storage is an important issue. " -- you don't need to tell us the history of writing the entry. If it is an important issue, just state the issue, not how you found out that it is important.

"Now you have bought it INSURE it" - don't stress things by using capital letters. If you absolutely have to stress a word, use italics. But it's better not to stress words at all. People should be able to work out what you mean from the words alone.

"instances of the lock clip breaking, so the photos can be downloaded, but the card is u/s is not uncommon." -- I have no idea what this means. Try and reword it.

Image storage at Home

Reword this section so that it is not a selection of sentences by different people, some of them repeated. It should start with a paragraph outlining the problem, then present some solutions.

There's a lot more to be done to this entry, but there's no point in me saying anything more until the basic structure is sorted out.

Thanks for the review I have attended to the points mentioned.

I think this entries point is co operative nature I would "prefer" to note the contributions individually. Admittedly it looks little cluttered, so in each section I have grouped the contributions of each author together with one citation, it looks a lot better.

I hope this is agreeable as I think most of the time the righthand column goes unregarded.

Thanks again

I'm impressed with what you have done so far – in many ways, putting together a collaborative entry like this in which many people have contributed is much more difficult than writing one yourself from scratch.

I agree with what Gnomon's said in that it interrupts the flow of reading quite considerably to have researcher names at the end of many paragraphs, especially if it means the same points are repeated in different paragraphs by different people. As you are putting this entry together, you don't have to keep every word verbatim and can use your judgement to edit and consolidate so each point is only made once.

I'd also consider using subheaders as well as headers – perhaps look at the entry in Classic Goo, for instance, http://www.h2g2.com/dna/h2g2/classic/A87849904 to see how using only headers looks.

A couple of minor bits and pieces:

I think some terms, such as 'vignetting', could do with a definition in a footnote.

'subscribe to a Camera magazine. These have always been there, like Practical Photographer that I remember from my youth. Flicking through, when on my paper round, in the hope there was an article on Glamour Photographer (come on, I was 14!)'
- Was the interest really in learning about the glamour photographer who took the photos, or was it 'glamour photography'smiley - bigeyes that held the interest?

Still a very good read – the only thing I spotted was the sentence:
'Things to keep in your camera bag. For cleaning tissues, wet wipes cotton buds. To keep things going spare batteries, film cards, small torch, and filters. For DSLR users your spare lenses.'
This seemed out-of-place in the 'Choosing and Buying Your Camera' bit and perhaps would fit better in the 'Camera Bag Ideas' section?
