The real Captain Jack Harkness isn’t even the first flying officer that Jack's flirted with in 1941. He is first seen in 'The Empty Child'/'The Doctor Dances' during the blitz in 1941 London, and he's flirting with an officer named Algy. He implies that he's been to the 1940s before, as he uses the blitz as a method of cleaning up after his cons.
Jack's second recorded visit to the 1940s (after being stranded in the Victorian times and deciding to wait for the 21st Century) probably involved some flirting, however he was probably in America at the time after meeting a man named Angelo (Miracle Day)
The trip back discussed above was his third recorded time in the 1940s. His fourth time involved when he was buried by his brother centuries in the past, only to be discovered in Victorian England again only to be placed in cryogenic suspension (and unable to flirt) until the 21st Century.
I suspect I know too much about 'Doctor Who'...

Well, it gave ME a laugh. And I didn't know about some of that, because I don't think we've seen 'Miracle Day'.
My point is that you can learn how to write from anything - just study the structure.
