(The important word being 'follow' - he did indeed lead from the front and when he led his men into the terrible battle at Moreuil Woods, it was because he believed that if they did not do all they could to halt the German advance, the war would be lost. Though he did not want to throw the lives of his men away, if they did not do their bit all that they had suffered and sacrificed since the war began would have been for nothing).

Sorry for not commenting on this sooner, <BB< - an excellent tribute to a remarkable horse

It just so happened that I mentioned WWI exhibitions to a friend of mine before Christmas, and we got to talking about the horses involved in the war, so I knew I needed to read this Entry, and it was as good as expected.

Just with my sub-editor hat on, would you mind putting quotes that are not blockquotes into single quotes ' rather than italics, please?
