"First up was the eclectic John Barrowman, always a popular choice at a party, who sang, danced among animated wrapped teacakes and snogged a leftover man when all the other dancers had paired up to 'marry' at Gretna Green."
What a fabulous turn of phrase!
I didn't see the ceremony, so I appreciate the write up I've been watching some of the Games so far, though, and enjoying seeing different (non-Olympic) sports, like Squash

You missed a treat... I've found you some highlights, and here's where John kisses the leftover man: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-28440453 (0.38s in)

Thank you - I enjoyed that!
Only John Barrowman would emerge from underneath a giant kilt!
The leftover man scene was brilliant, too - what camp!
The rainbow walkway was impressive, too
I find the idea of such ceremonies and parades not very exciting (especially when they overrun) but when they're humorous and jolly, they are quite good to watch after all. I didn't see the Olympics Opening Ceremony for the same reason, but I did watch the closing ceremony and enjoyed the campness a lot!
Key: Complain about this post
