I learned a little bit about the centres of a triangle in my maths studies, but I didn't realise there were quite so many
I like this Entry A good overview of a variety of points, not just the 3 or 4 most well known. Very informative.

Good entry!
Are the three dogs running at the same speed, or does it matter?

I'd have thought they need to be running at the same speed. Having said that, I've tried to model this but can't quite reproduce the lovely pursuit curves that others have.
See the final diagram on this page: https://www.sciencenews.org/article/pursuing-pursuit-curves
Would you say the dogs are running at the same speed there? I'm not convinced.

In fact, the more I look at that diagram, the more I'm convinced the dogs have to be running at speeds in the ratios of their distances from each other.
Back to the model...

I thought I knew stuff about triangles. Turns out I didn't know diddly-squat! Thanks for this Icy, it's very informative and didn't lose me once

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Well done!
You can always sort of the issue of the speed of the dogs with the sub-editor or through the curators.

Thanks GB, Gnomon. Geggs.
Having given it some thought, I now suspect the dogs run at the same speed after all, despite my inability to model it accurately (I don't have good software to do that). Forgetting dogs and Brocard points for a moment, it just wouldn't make sense to have variable speeds in terms of pursuit curves in general.
I haven't mentioned relative speeds in the entry, as other published articles on the subject haven't, so I'm happy to leave the text as it is.
I'll mail in my diagrams now it's been picked. I'll do that tomorrow.
I don't have a diagram for Brocard points, but I don't think that's a great loss. Let the reader use their imagination for a change.
Thanks all!
