Hi Bengal Tiger.
I'm confused by this, because I don't know what The Mahabharata is. Is it a story from history, a work of fiction, or what? Who wrote it or wrote it down? Have you translated it, or have you retold the story in your own words?
The Edited Guide is normally the place for factual entries about the real world, although they don't have to be told in a dull and boring way.
If this entry is a work of fiction, it is welcome in h2g2, but not in the Edited Guide - it should go to the Alternative Writing Workshop, or you could submit it to The Post, our weekly magazine. I think it would need a little more explanation even there, because the whole setting will be unfamiliar to most readers.

It is an impressive peice if wirting that could be split into sections.
The Mahabharata is an epic of Indian liturature and regarded by many as fact (or based closley on fact) comparable with the original works of the Greeks and Romans. It could very possably be history as well as a good story.

Hi All
"The Mahabharata" is an epic, and is considered to be the greates of Indian literature. It is said it's based on facts though penned down in the form of literature. Though historians cannot find proofs enough that says it's pirely based on facts, but is definitely close to what had actually happened.
However, the first thing one says about The Mahabharat is that it's an epic depicting the feud between the cousins of the royal Kuru clan.
My entry depicts an incident described in the epic, in my own words.
Kindly advise me where do I put this entry.

"The Mahabharata" was written around 5000 years back by the Sage Krishna Dwaipayana Veda Vyasa. of course many interpolations have got added to it since then.

The epic was originally written in Vedic Sanskrit, and have been translated to all languages of India and other languages too. I've read the epic in English and Bengali, and have retold this extract in my own words.

Hi Kaushik
Good to see you here! This is a very good contribution to h2g2, however I'm afraid that the Edited Guide would not be the best place for this epic tale. So, you have a choice.
The easiest thing would be to remove this from Peer Review, and then submit it to the Alternative Writing Forum. The Alternative Writing Forum is where good Entries, such as this, will be selected for the Post. The Entry would be available for all our readers to search for and read - even if it only stayed as an ordinary Entry on your personal space. So it would be valuable.
The second choice would be to cut the story drastically, abridge it into one or two paragraphs, with the main character, events and setting. Then you could introduce some background to the Mahabharata, and explain the significance of this particular story. Maybe it is a favourite story at a certain time of year, or with particular people? We'd be happy to accept the sort of analytical entry that helped us to understand this story in the religious or cultural context.
However, out of these two possibilities, I'd favour the whole thing being submitted to the Alternative Writing Workshop. But of course the choice is yours.

Hi, Bengal Tiger!
If you'd like to send this version to the AWW, we'd love to have it for the h2g2 Post. You told it in an exciting way.
The Mahabharata is one of my favourite epics. It's a masterpiece of world literature. Sort of the literary equivalent of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Personally, I think Arjuna could clean Cuchulainn's clock.

Hi Lanzababy
It's good to hear from you after a long time. i'm glad to be back with h2g2.
Thanks Dmitri
I would chose the first alternative. My motive in writing this entry was not to relate The Mahabharta or speak about the epic or the significance of the same. i've retold a small event of the huge epic as a short story.
So, as you suggested I would rather go for the AWW.
Thank you all for your valiuable advices.

Well
I do I take it off Peer Review and submit to AWW?
It seems I have been away freom H2G2 for quite a while. I've forgotten a lot of things.

The process is easiest if you change your [preferences] to Brunel.
Firstly, go to [preferences] in the top right hand corner, if you're reading this in the new Pliny version of h2g2. Choose Brunel from the drop down menu. Click [Update]
Go to Peer Review (there's a link in the left hand column in Brunel
Scroll down the Peer Review page until you find the list of Entries, yours should have a little yellow [X] next to it.
Click on the [X] and your Entry will be returned to your personal page/removed from Peer Review
Then follow the ordinary instructions for submitting - this time to the AWW.
If you have problems, let me know.

Hi Lanzababy
Thank you for your advice.
I had already tried this before but without changing to Brunel.
It's funny the new Pliny version does not have the (x) option.
I've submitted this now to the Alternative Writing Workshop.

We launched the newest version of Pliny just under two weeks ago, and we're gradually bringing all the relevant editorial tools on line. Currently, it is advised to revert to Brunel until we've finished this process.
