The food is important.
I'm going to say something here which verges on heresy:
Tell, don't show.
Use your words to tell me the picture. It's your words I'm interested in. Your slang. The stuff I *can't* read on every tripadvisor clone site out there. 
If you tell it well, I promise to see it well.
But never forget to tell us about the food!
