I am guessing that the question was rhetorical. There are different types of love. Love also has a time dependency, for example romantic love has different phases. So before one can attempt to answer how, one needs to know what (love). Love is more a feeling than a rationalisation, but love can be rationalised. The key is to differentiate love from a sense of duty, a sense of responsibility. One should be fair to both parties in the relationship, if one person loses themselves, loses their individuality, then that's not an enduring love, that's servitude (IMO).
