I'm not a guitarist, so I can't comment on the detail. All I would suggest is that you might wish to consider adding links to some of these:

A16932297 - Sir Paul McCartney - Singer/Songwriter
A259012 - Bass Guitars
A3641799 - Guitar Heroes
A3073709 - The Parts of an Acoustic Guitar
A208793 - Classical Guitars
A1124632 - Guitar-related Injuries

A33659319 - Distortion - The Physics of Heavy Metal

A2939466 - The Fender Telecaster: Plank That Made Good
A9913638 - How To Tune A Guitar
A86878624 - How to Buy a Guitar Amplifier

Incidentally, Paul McCartney's most famous bass is the Hoffner violin bass, but from Rubber Soul and the Paperback Writer music video onwards would indeed play a Rickenbacker.

This is good. One statement may need researching:

>In 1956, the company introduced the (affordable) Combo 400 guitar and branched out into bass guitars in 1957 with the 4000 series. These were the first mass-produced neck-through-body instruments (having their neck piece extending to the length of the guitar, and the body being formed by gluing sides to the neck piece).

I seem to remember reading that Les Paul had already done this, transforming the Log into the Les Paul we all know and love.

Thanks Recumbentman smiley - ok

I have added a bit more into that section - the novel thing is that Rickenbacker mass-produced the instruments made in this way, so I hope that is clearer now.

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

Good entry! I have no love whatsoever for John C. Hall and his Army of Lawyers (the legal actions you mention go a lot further and get a lot nastier than is covered here!) so wouldn't buy anything new from them, but should I ever get my 'year of birth' bass, a burgundyglo 4001 is top of my list!

Also, it is erroneous to call Les Paul's Log (oo-er) a neck-through guitar. It was a salvaged guitar neck glued to a 4x4 length of wood, which strictly speaking makes it a set neck. The 'wings' were added so it didn't look too unusual when he performed with it!

I looked into the design of the Log and other guitars in more detail and have made some changes to the section, so hopefully that is better.
