A Conversation for A Visit To Keyhaven

The Keyhaven I know is more poetic and salty

And my experience of it is tempered by my interest in sailing. The club you refer to is the Royal Lymington Yacht Club, which is next to the Lymington Town Sailing Club and the salt water lido. Keyhaven has two sailing clubs too; next to the carpark opposite the pub is the Hurst Castle Sailing Club and the Keyhaven Yacht Club. The shallow pools to your left as you walk to Lymington are TheSaltings, which were once a centre for production of salt in shallow pans, but are now home to, amongst other things, another sailing club which trains children on the shallow pools and in safety (and above them is the Hurst View Camping Park and the local amenity tip smiley - smiley).

The view out to the Isle of Wight is spectacular, from East of Yarmouth to the Needles. The Solent is always busy with pleasure craft in fair and light conditions and Hurst Spit is a fine viewing platform for sections of the Round the Island racing and many classes of yachts, including round the world races. The Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth is also visible.

Keyhaven is a short walk from Milford with a selection of shops and cafes, including some excellent take-away fish and chips.
