Yes there must be lots of possible plot ideas that involve trying to go back to past events.
How about this:
Old woman wants to mend the feud between her brothers before they die. She sets out to the town where they all grew up, to work out what really happened all those years ago. What she finds there makes her realise she didn't really know her brothers.
