The overwhelming smell of aged leather permeates this room coming from the rows and rows of old books lining the walls in their tall bookcases. Great banks of colour against the deep redwood of the shelves themselves. The bookcase directly opposite the door to the Entrance Hall, in the shadow between the main windows has a chain dangling to the floor. The walls that are visible above the top of the cases is a pale, sickly olive green offset by the white ceiling and the paisley patterned Turkish carpet that fills the floor.
Deeply worn, green leather armchairs sit where they were last used around the room, one of which has a couple of books sitting next to it, and four large standard lamps set in a square in the middle of the floor.
