You're absolutely right here Dimitri - we have to write about things that interest us or we'll get bored and burn out.
But maybe we can catch the idle lurking eye and then lead them on to something more interesting...

The only entry I ever wrote which didn't initially interest me very much was the Karmann Ghia entry (editors t-shirt challenge), and while researching I discovered lots of interesting things. Interestingly, it's still the entry with the most hits on my blog (meanwhile closely followed by my lobscouse entry).

I love that idea, 2legs...find a really cool/funny/gross pic, and write to that...
KB did that awful fish parasite, and then everybody was so grossed out by the photo I found, he had to draw a cartoon to tone it down.

I did the entry I think, on the penis fish... not sure if that got a picture or not actually I'm sure that came about from a discussion on teh face mite entry, and someone... icey maybe commented on that it wasn't as bad as the penis fish, and how lucky we wer eno one had written an entry on that yet... so I wrote the entry... I think

Isn't it wonderful how high-minded we all are? That sort of discussion always goes somewhere on h2g2...

Exactly! I persued the necesity to complete and write an entry about Candiru, also known as the vampire fish, or the willy fish, or the penis fish, for purely alturistic reasons. And, of course, in order to ensure its coverage reached maxamimn accademic rigor in its depth of coverage. Merely, you understand, in an attempt to ensure that no intrepid hitchiker, on finding themselves in the Amazonian forrest, would be so unfortunate as to suffer the amputation of an organ regarded as many as rather important.
I just looked at the entry... I actually managed to sneak a few jokes in that entry, past the beardy or is that beady, or maybe beaky, or at least blinky eyes of the hawk like attentives and scrutinizers that haungth the deepest darkest recesses of peer review, like lesser spotted monkey-vultures, with a rampent appertite for typographical and gramatical errors... I really must try find somethign else rather weird to write about

hmmm.... there must be a whole host of paracytic nastys (I@m not talking trolls
), which affect various parts of the body and induce a suitable ickyness in people when they read about them
or... hmmm.... a series, of entrys, on hmmm.... naa... that might be a bit too

I'd say 'behave', but with you, it would be futile...and we want all those users who make 'animal sex' so popular...

Is animal sex really* that popular?! even I have to admit that is one area of the whole gambit of mamalian sexuality of which Ihave very little knowledge, and absolutely no first hand experiance.... apart from hedgehogs.... they make an awful lot of noise when having sex... they used to do it on the front lawn in front of my Dad's house, which was below my bedroom window... and, just like humans, they seemed to enjoy threesomes and foresomes and.... etc., etc.,
I'm just hpeless at coming up with new ideas for entrys at the moment

I didn't know that about hedgehogs. The ones we had were in enforced celibacy.
Though we gave Spike to a nice English gentleman with a garden, and then she had babies...

well... I am only guessing* they were having sex... err... hard to think what else it might have been
I guess all the noise goes with the teratory though... I mean... ouch... all those spikes they've got... I mean, there's nothign wrong with a bit of BDSM, but they've taken it to extremes, quite clearly...
