The Christmas Poem: An Xmas Message To The World's Politicians

0 Conversations

We are pleased to offer a selection of poems from the Create Seasonal Poetry Challenge this December: to write a poem about a gift.

BMT's gift suggestion for the worlds' politicians is one we might all take to heart.

An Xmas Message To The World's Politicians

It's that time of year once again
Where peace and goodwill to all should reign.
So rather than the usual gifts
Let's all heal those mighty rifts.

Like paper boats upon a stream
Peace on earth is but a dream.
They may glide quietly by,
The far flung war is where people die.

To politicians near and far:
Stop the bickering, stop the war.
To every faith and every creed
Let's just stop the dastardly deeds.

Give a break to the needy and poor,
They don't want to fight anymore.
Battling famine, hunger and strife,
A gift of rice will save a life.

So to politicians we beg you, please,
No more soundbites just to appease.
Let's stop the suffering near and far,
End the battles, end the war.
