Poster paint or even Water colours can be used.You may also choose to use Glitter to give them some Sparkle. Once the paint is dry varnish them with either PVA glue or clear varnish.
Lower case water, glitter, and sparkle. A space between used. and You.

Ooh err Thanks, this had slipped my mind. I Liked Sol's picture of these that was used on the Create Christmas tree. Only about 4 of my decorations actually got finished, and I didn't get the chance to take pictures of the ones the cub-scouts made.
