your spot
the place of
bones and stones
littered about with chiselled maudlin scratchy
words.
The kind you roll your eyes
at... and sigh.
But not yours, which hangs a vowel
short of death consonants strewn in
reckless abandon.
In life as in death
a sotted soliloquy with the last word tumbled off
in leaning cant.
A glance and a kick deftly aimed...bang, kerrupp.
Alphabet granite amongst the plastic geraniums
Haitch and Argh skittled askance peering at Rome
as much use in death as in life
Luxurious love, viscous like dripping honey
abounds in flourishes affixed to statues
mausoleum bound
with moments for us all
so close to the abyss
that we stare.
