This isn't something I knew much about so it was an interesting read.
My parents have some tapes of them singing some Gilbert and Sullivan as young adults (back before they had me), and there are a couple of places where you can hear the traffic from the road coming through. And one lovely bit where the tenors utterly failed to come in, spooking the other parts and leading to a rather confused gap before they managed to get it together again!
It's easier when it's someone else's recording though; the few ones of my performances I rarely listen to because all the emotion of the wrong notes or bad moments I comes straight back to me.
