A Conversation for Babe Among the Stars: October 2011
October observations

Trying out my x75 binoculars, I managed to see Jupiter's moons on two nights with only a day apart.
14 Oct there was Ganymede then Callisto to the left of Jupiter with Europa to the right, Io was missing, presumed eclipsed or in transit.
16 Oct was a red letter day (night), all four of the moons were to Jupoter's left, so that was the first time I had ever seen Io with my own eyes (helped by the binos of course)
Also on 16 Oct I managed to spot Uranus.
I checked the positions beforehand with my free Stellarium astronomy programme, a priceless boon
Will be comet-hunting later in the month

Didn't think I'd get anything tonight, with the clouds & lashing rain earlier, but Jupiter is like a magnetic beacon.
18 Oct there's 2 moons each side of the planet, Callisto and Io on the left, Europa and Ganymede on the right.
