Bring Back Angus

Since the BBC and Hat Trick productions, the makers of Have I Got News For You, saw fit to asked Angus Deayton to step down as host of BBC ONE's satirical news quiz with immediate effect the quality of the programme has deteriorated beyond belief. Tonight I watched with shock, horror and dismay, Anne Robinson's feable attempt at smooth satire. Poor timing and wooden delivery, she relied completely on cheap jibs and base humour. And worst still appeared to read every line from the script.

To say that "it is felt by all concerned that continuing stories in the media about Angus' private life have made him the subject of headlines rather than a commentator on them. This has made his position as host of the topical news quiz untenable." Is a joke!
For years this show poked fun at Ian Hislop and those Private Eye's libel cases. Did Ian's notoriety harm him or the show? No, in fact it made a celebrity of him and a success of the show. It's a shame that I for one will not be tuning in to watch another one until the BBC brings back Angus Deayton.
