A Conversation for Open Season on Silly
Er, could you put me in touch with Natasha?

Just kidding!
The story about the heat made me think of a science fiction story I read a while ago, and I can't remember who wrote it, but it hinged around the idea that when the temperature hits a certain point, people wig out and do awful things. But anyways I think you're onto something about it getting *too* hot at a certain point. Summer afternoons in the Lowveld are like that ... you can't do much except lounge in your chair in the shade and wait for it to be over.

If your email is free of messages from hot Russian babes, count yourself lucky.
I'll never forget the two Polish girls I went to uni with in Bonn...they wore go-go boots and wrote mash letters to John Wayne...
Aha. You've been there, Willem. It's called the 'too tired to move' syndrome...

Hmmm, I'm not convinced it's too hot for you Americans to get up to evil things.

And I probably get lots of emails from Natascha, or offereing me the 'Max Gentleman Enlargement', but as they're sent from a Russian domain (and in Cyrillic) they go straight to my bin.

Aha. The Cyrillic filter. Unfortunately, mine are in English.
There *is* that heat wave problem...

Oh, it's a filter I created myself. I don't know if the content is in Russian, the subject lines certainly are, but I never open these mails.
And now you've reminded me that we don't have a working sound system so I can't listen to all my old records.

Thanks for that Muppet link Dmitri! I'm a fan.
Anyways the most exciting junk email I get over here is one announcing that I've been awarded a grant of (ONE MILLION POUNDS) for a rural development project by WEST AFRICA in conjunction with Oxfam GB. Always with the capital letters and brackets like that. It's almost definitely another Nigerian scheme.

I'd hope so!
I have had two Russian girls as pen-pals (or would that be pen-palettes?). They were quite nice, no silly stuff. One send me some wonderful little books from Russian authors and/or about Russia. And they weren't in Cyrillic! One even learnt a bit of Afrikaans from me and in turn taught me some Russian, though all I can remember now is 'spasibo'.
