Hi there minorvogonpoet! Thanks for this entry. Me, I am not that into poetry ... but I have read a lot of it, and I've composed a bit of it as well! But not very serious stuff ... lots of silly poems, songs, and so on. My father was more serious, he composed quite a lot of poetry. He also translated some of Ted Hughes' poetry into Afrikaans! I like Hughes as well, and also, Robert Frost, and William Blake.

There are lots of individual poems I like, but I don't know if I have a favourite poet .
So, I like poems by everyone from Shakespeare, Donne and Marvell, through Coleridge, Keats and Shelley, Browning and Gerard Manley Hopkins, Yeats, Auden and D H Lawrence, to Larkin, Elizabeth Bishop, to Seamus Heaney and Carole Ann Duffy.
But I shall get taken to task by the real experts about this place, for having only a shallow knowledge of English poets, and knowing not much at all about American poets.
Waht about you? Do you have favourite poets?

Hi there. Well I like the ones I mentioned there, and I also like Coleridge, Keats, Alexander Pope, Chaucer, Gerard Manley Hopkins ... anyways like I say, I don't read that much poetry, but you know what, I'll take an anthology and read a bit again! Maybe I'll post here about poems that I enjoy ...
