h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hello there! I'm new to this forum, and not used to the layout of it, so just browsing and reading... But since I'm the talkative kind, I'll get the hang of it soon, I guess.
I'm living near one of Slartibartfast's masterpieces in the north of Norway with my teenage son and my "teenage" fiancee.
Hopefully there's still somebody "live" here, even though I struggled finding NEW entries...

The coffee never materialized so I just had to make some myself. This is a beautiful day in Vesteraalen by the way. The sun is shining, and I should probably think of something to do outside.
As for now, I'm trying to familiarize myself with this site. And I gather that I soon have a completely new site to "play" with. Looking forward to that. Hopefully the new site will be easier to "operate"...

Are you using the new skin with dolphins or hte older ones (the ones you get to with www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2 ? You might find them more user friendly.

I tried that link, and although it was "prettier", I got an error-message when I tried to access this discussion... So I'm back to the default one.

The links to the new skin, which I thought was the default one. But you've come in with the old skin.. . Has the default skin changed?

We Aces asked for the default skin being changed to brunel because barlesque hardly ever worked the past few weeks - maybe the eds changed it?

I'm not sure what this skin is even called... lol I'll get used to it just in time to change it when the server changes I guess...

New Entries are found on the <./>FrontPage</.>. Current conversations are... uh... everywhere, but the most open and active ones are usually found in <./>Ask2h2g2</.>. The 'up and coming' Entries are found in PeerReview, where all reviews and opinions are gratefully received as long as they are constructive!

Another one that may be useful <./>Info</.> page, which tells you the most recently updated conversations and Entries. Just be careful though - if it's a more private conversation it's usually polite to introduce yourself and only join in if it's clear it's not too personal. Most conversations are more than happy to have people join in though, so feel free to explore.

This is probably the weirdest month you could have ever joined, but I'm sure you'll take it in your stride. Our plan is that you should barely notice the difference as the site will be an exact replica of the current one, but hosted by a company called noesis rather than the BBC.

Please excuse the million and one conversations going on about the past and the future of h2g2. We're obviously a bit one-track-minded about it right now. Feel free to join in (newbie opinions are important) or just join the ones where we're doing less navel-gazing and more actual talking.

Ah, sometimes your preferences have changed, but if it says 'Alabaster' in the address bar it takes that as priority over your preferences. Try replacing the word 'alabaster' with the word 'classic': http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/F103378?thread=8271482&latest=1 From now on (hopefully) you should be stuck in the classic, cool beauty of Goo.

You arrive in interesting times, with some very strange hours, peculiar minutes, but most of the seconds are quite normal.... well, I say 'normal', but I guess it depends on what you think a 'normal' second looks like... round here its vaguely purpleish with a slight yellow shading on the edges, and a kind of wild antilope theme running through it...
