Somewhere over WHAT rainbow?
Cry_Havoc Started conversation Jul 5, 2004
Ok, so I have waited a while to post. I'm a little shy.
But I'm sitting here, typing on my computer at 1:00 am , and listening to Guns-n-Roses' "November Rain" and wondering if Dorothy had it right. Can happiness only be found when you wander far from home, just to realize that home is the only happiness most of us will ever know? If that is so, I'm up a certain creek without any paddle.
Life sux.
Anyone out there able or willing to talk to a lonely ?

G-n-R, George Harrison, John Lennon, The Beatles, Bon Jovi,
a little Led Zepellin, and a great song by Jeff Buckley called "Hallelujah".
All great songs for feeling sorry for yourself. No?
Any other suggestion?
I am a HUGE music lov'r!!!
-that's me, howling at the moon, here in the desert!

Hey, cool, you took the time to get to know why I was depressed?!
You are tooo cooool!
Thanks!
Who is David Gray? It sound familiar, but it doesn't ring any bells.
Isn't it wonderful how music can help us process our feelings? It is truly a miracle!

the good thing about music is that there's such a strong variety of it, that there is something to suit what ever mood you're in.
I'm a biker...love rock music, but if I'm cleaning, or in a depressed mood, I stick classical music on....just seems to make me feel better.........and if you tell anyone that, I'll have to come and reek my revenge!

Totally know what you mean about different moods. Funny thing is, I love classical music- every day of the week except Sunday, that is. Won't bore you with why....
Love all kinds of music, and I love how you hear one song differently depending on your mood. There are songs that make me cry when I'm low, and make me smile and happier when I am feeling fine.
You're secret is safe with me!
But seriously, NEVER be ashamed of your SELF, & WHO you are. Our love of music is part of what makes us unique, and I'm not ashamed to say that music has been something that has pulled me back from the brink several times.
~ that's me, howling at the moon, very cathartic

Here's what the beeb has to say about David Gray... http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/profiles/graydavid.shtml
When I'm down but am tinged with some anger too I'll listen to some dark D&B, or if a certain morbidity is in me I'll listen to Mozart's Requiem in D minor.
Other moods can be refelcted by Garbage or PJ Harvey or Queen, yeah Queen is good for being cheered up or having a cry.

Okay, don't hate me, but I stand by this: My favorite band, the one that has songs that fit, no matter what mood I'm in, and that I can relate to, is Bon Jovi.
Now, the Beatles are my all time favorite band, but they are not really mood changers, as much as they are mood intensifiers. If I'm already depressed, I can listen to their sad songs and feel more sad. If I'm happy, they make me even more so. But Bon Jovi can make me sad when I'm happy, and vice versa. Why would I want to be sad when I'm happy?
Like the song says, "Sometimes, I think its a sin, when I start feelin' better, when I'm no pain."
I just discovered an old song by Bryan Adams, called "One Night Love Affair", that I love, but it makes me sad, even when I'm happy, and I love that it does that.
Go figure!

I know what it's like to feel that you don't deserve to be happy...
Never heard Bon Jovi that I can recall...

I know what you mean, but every group, even the Beatles, go through growing pains. Even Mozart and Beethoven had stuff that not everyone was fond of.
But you have to agree that one of their best songs ever, still, is "Wanted: Dead or Alive" off the Slippery When Wet album!
On the Crush album, they have a great song, but I can't remember the name- I don't have that one on cd, so I can't look it up!
