I like it so far. My only real concern is your choice of name for her. Kat and Kate are very similar.
If there's no chance the two characters will get confused, fine go ahead. If there is a very strong reason why your character must be named Kat, perhaps I can go back through all my chapters and change the name of my character Kate, who is Jacob Sydney's ex-wife. I only named her that for personal reasons and I'm not married to the name, but I am adverse to physically going back through and re-editing all my previous chapters for something petty like names. I'm pretty sure there'll be other reasons why I have to make more drastic changes in the future. =)
Still, it's a good start and I like the idea of someone writing from a Field Researcher's point of view. Oh, and it IS "Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy." Even though this is Reality Two. Most people in Reality Two don't know about Reality One, so to them it's all the same.

What do think about this as a chapter. It's still very rough and I'll probably do more editing on it but I think I should use the cliffhange (albeit a very small one) at the end of a chapter. It also allows me to change scene without decribing every little detail of it. What do you think of the new name? Is it OK as far as you know?

As far as I know it's a great name. I like it. =) No worries.
Another suggestion. This is just to help me out and allow me to be lazy. I've discovered that if I do a search for "BBBB" without the quotes I can get a ready list of all my BBBB pages plus anyone else who has put BBBB in their subject header. If you could change the part of your subject line that says something like "my QuadBee story" to "BBBB" it'll make it easier for me to find your submissions now and in the future.
I will be doing searches for QuadBee as well, but probably after I'm done scanning for BBBB messages. Thanks again!
