kea ~ Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded but very well read blue and white website

TC posted a really good question on the FAQ thread: >> Re Amy's question about introducing friends to the site ... what is the policy on this? Surely it is in the site's interest to attract more researchers, but how do we go about doing this, and, if such advertising is successful, how are we going to cope with the influx of people unused to our ways? Too much inane chat might lead to the old regulars despairing and leaving. << http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F21525517?thread=8244456&show=20&skip=80#p109551688 Is this something we could be discussing over the next while? Are the Aces thinking about this? Does it need discussion in the wider community? I'm not so worried about people leaving, but I think it is something we should be conscious of - how the site is going to change. Not that I need anything more to do at the moment but I am interested in what we're all thinking about this. Vip, has it come up in the tasks for the Community Team?

Nosebagbadger {Ace}

indeed it might change, as it should, though we might occasionly hope gradually.

On a personal level i am planning to invite a couple of friends who will enjoy the site, but am only going to do so after the move - otherwise it will merely put them off

Amy Pawloski, aka 'paper lady'--'Mufflewhump'?!? click here to find out... (ACE)

I'm definitely of 2 minds about this. I've said all along that I'd wait until after we'd settled in. On the other hand, I'm going to be actually seeing quite a few of the folks I'm wanting to bring in well before any estimates for the move (I'll be 300 miles from home in 2-3 weeks) and it's a lot easier to show someone a site if you can sit at their computersmiley - winkeye

After all, I've thought for years that it'd be really smiley - cool if it turned out that I was related to someone on h2g2 (especially a friend)--here's my chance to guarantee itsmiley - silly

If you know their user numbers, just leave a message in the ACE's homepage and one of us will ensure a personal greeting smiley - ok

Remember, if you say 'hello' to them in their Message Centre, you will remove them from our Newbie List before we can get there. We do try to check everyone, but sometimes they get passed us smiley - erm

lil xx
