Hi Spook,
We've been discussing something along these lines in the Towers recently and it seems you've got there before us
We've had *loads* of entries that seem to focus on Hitchhikerisms (mainly about 42, but there are some others) and we've always pointed to the same guidelines - no gratuitous DNAisms. But this is different. Putting aside from Mina's point for the moment, it's factual, it's informative and it contains itself on the DNAisms very well. But...
(The next paragraph contains an opinion that might look odd considering some of the stuff I've put into Peer Review - forgive me).
I think you're trying too hard to cover everything in one go. As a consequence, this entry is quite disjointed; you start discussing something and then rush on to the next bit where it might have been worth examining the matter in greater detail. And as a consequence, although you say it doesn't stop anyone writing about the individual parts of the HHGTTG body, it does kind of close off a few options for people without going into as much depth as it could do.
But, as they say, don't panic, because I really like what you've done so far... and I'm wondering if you'd be prepared to submit this as part of a project (yes, the one I aluded to in the thread about 42).
The project could be called The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - the fictional worlds of Douglas Adams. Following your structure here, it could look at the radio series separately from the TV series, books, LPs, illustrated coffee-table book, comic and of course towel. And then, when the movie finally arrives, a separate entry could be slotted in on that at a later date. It could also include that look at the penomenon of 42 that we discussed the other week.
It wouldn't be something you'd have to do on your own either. This was something we were discussing as part of a test for the Italics - to demonstrate how to run a collaborative project by actually doing one. But it was felt that this particular subject would be better offered out to the Community. A factual look at the fiction. I'd be willing to help out with this though, and I'm sure a lot of other people would be too...
... so, um, whadda yer say?

Did I look through the books... nope, but I'm not saying how I found that so quickly on a BBC website
Spiff - catch
Spook - Can you beg, borrow or steal a copy of the DVD, there's a whole section on both the animatronics and the animation on there... plus a great deal of other information...
Oh, and just while I'm busy proving my geekishness - It might be worth a footnote stating that Simon Jones and Peter Jones were not related... there was quite an urban legend at the time that they were father and son
I'm not a geek am I?

it sounds very interesting to me. looking at it from one point, if i submit it to the project then in the end it will definately become an edited entry, but on the other hand...
naah there's no other hand. i'm in. tell me more about the project please.
spook
ps. am just about to remove entry from peer review. thanks for teh comments everyone!

simulpost!
i own the DVD Whisky so i can look on that for the info.
oh, and u don't have to stop commenting just because I remove this from pr, although the animatronics stuff would probably go better in a seperate entry in the uni project.

Cheers spook.
I've got the DVD, and a fab CD interview with Douglas that came with the radio series CD boxset (spot the fan )
I'm not back in the office until Monday, but I'll drop by your page when I get back and we can chat about this further.
I think, because most of the submissions were of the "Mostly harmless" variety, we've shied away from every touching DNA's work on here, but handled properly, this could provide the answers to a lot of people's questions.
Speak to ya later, spook, and have a nice weekend.

Slightly more helpfully, it's the one originally broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 1998.

Has PR always been this contentious, or is it just the last few weeks?

PR? Contentious? I hadn't noticed
I wonder what percentage of the Hitchhiker DVDs sold are actually in the possession of H2G2 researchers?
