I am a fan of 50s and 60s music.

The

My Generation

website has links to the sites of many 60s artists. Many 60s groups still tour and I have enjoyed seeing them at

Swansea Grand Theatre.

I have also enjoyed many evenings at events presented by

Tony Wyn-Jones

A former Radio I D.J. in the early years, he is still well-known for presenting functions especially around the West Glamorgan area. He is now a resident D.J. in The Strand bar in Swansea.

BACK TO THE SIXTIES.

We may be forty-somethings but we're still teenaged inside.

See us on a Saturday night when we go out to jive.

To sixties music, songs with words that you can understand

On records played by a D.J. or live with a sixties band.

Todays teenagers at their raves don't know what they miss.

How can they enjoy themselves half as much as this?

To dance facing a a partner, not just jumping up and down,

Without the blinding disco lights,we can see what's going on.

A ballroom , with a glittering ball above a big dance floor

With room to move about and jive, that's what this music's for.

We don't need drugs or too much drink, we don't get in a fight

And we can remember how much we enjoyed our night.

A In the summer season, sixties stars all go on tour.

Theatres at holiday resorts fill with fans from years ago.

Because we've aged together, the stars still look the same

As they did thirty years ago, when they first came to fame.

Our teenaged sons and daughters think we are quite mad.

They get so embarrassed to see their mum and dad

Jiving in the theatre aisles ,why don't we act our age.

We do.We are eighteen again when those stars are on the stage.

REACHING FOR A STAR.

You stand there upon the stage

A famous rock star all the rage.

Besieged by crowds of screaming fans.

They call your name, hold out their hands.

Somehow I manage to push through.

Then I hold out my hand to you.

Your eyes meet mine, their brilliant gaze

Really puts me in a daze.

You reach down and take my hand.

I wish you could understand.

So many things I'd like to say

But you have no time to stay.

By tomorrow you'll be gone.

Another gig, another town

With other girls who wave and call.

Will you remember me at all ?

Starlight may fade wth light of day

And you'll be many miles away.

But I won't forget wherever you are,

That for one brief moment I touched a star.

MUSIC
Music notes by Doctor MO

Music can recall memories

Of a certain place or time.

Carols on a Christmas day

Or a child's first nursery rhyme

Teenagers at a disco

With its pounding rhytmic beat.

Young people, out on a first date,

Learning to find their feet.

Those in love have 'their tune'

Whenever they hear it sung

Throughout the years, it's echos recall

The time when their love was young.

Sacred music in a church,

Played on a special day.

Joyful hymns at a wedding

Sad notes when we pass away.

All through our lives there is music

And afterwards we're told

That even in Heaven we'll hear it.

Played there on harps of gold.

Do not know what browser will pick up what attribute but some work smiley - biggrin

Some testing as there was something odd left and right.
