It is late on a Sunday evening and I have probably missed my dinner. So I am thinking about roasts and sandwiches.
The best sandwich is made directly after the desert following a roast. One nips out into the kitchen before any washing up/putting left-overs into the fridge happens. One then makes the sandwich from thickly cut/torn off hunks of warm meat (if there is any gravy that is scraped out and onto the bread too).
There is an air of surreptitiousness in one's behaviour because one is stealing from tomorrow's lunches. Or, probably more relevantly, because one is being a greedy guts having already eaten more than enough.
Once everything has gone into the fridge it is never the same again.
