Fear of Far Off

FEAR OF FAR OFF
Whenever my eyes glance upon,
or my ears should overhear,
the word Muslim
I fear
the neurons in my brain connect
assorted images which involve
a man in a white nightshirt
with a towel on his head
riding a maddened camel
wielding a curved blade sword
with strength and passion
born of self righteousness, a gift
given him by a non-existent god.
I find myself praying for my life
to my own non-existent gods.
