A Conversation for Army Boots (British)
Lacing Tommy's boots....
Scarab (Herbert West) Started conversation Oct 9, 2002
Worth mentioning that the British method of lacing boots - straight across, being different from the Japs and various other baddies who favoured the cris cross method, was popularly supposed to be an aid to identification. Gurkhas or Iban Trackers in the Jungle in WWII and in Malaya were reputedly taught to snurgle around the undergrowth until they came across a sentry. In the dark they would creep up on him and delicately feel his shoelacings before delivering the coup de grace. True or not. I've never taken any chances.....
