h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I have two boys myself.
One age 6 and one age 2,5.
My wifes brother lost their second child 8 years ago, she became 3 years.
It was something wrong with her immune system, all child sickness that children use to go through became leathal for her.
In between her trips to the doctors, she was very much alive and loved to live.
Then, suddenly one morning she complained of not feeling well in her stomach and wanted to lay down a bit.
She did, and suddenly she cried out, and just disappeared.
Some hour later, at the intensive care at the hospital, they discovered a massive bleeding in the center of the brain, and there was nothing to do. She took her sercret with her.

How on earth her parents have lived through this is still a big question of mine. Asking them, they reply:

"They say time heals the wounds in the soul. That is not true. You just learn to live with them."
