I've just thawed out - I had an hour and a half wait at the freezing station at Doncaster for my connection home.
The cafe was closed, so no
Oh well, I'm home now and had my hot while my nightie is warming on the radiator & I am enjoying the blissful silence
until tomorrow morning of course.
Glad you got home safely you too, Frankie, it was good to see you both again.
Goodnight, sleep tight.

Hi everyone, I was lucky, I got back to Hertford really easily because the train I thought we were were just going to miss was delayed by 5 minutes.
It was so nice to meet everyone and see faces and find out about the reasons behind some names too (!) and I'm looking forward to the photos!

I went for a train home but they were in the middle of evacuating Liverpool St Station !
That means all trains were cancelled and all the boards and loudspeakers were announcing "this is a police announcement. Please leave by the nearest exit now"
The thing was, as masses of people were funnelling up the escalators, there were still lots of people coming down the other side, seeing the notice s and going back up again. You'd think that when they push that big red "panic" button it would put all the escalators into one direction.
Anyway, I just walked around for an hour and came back when everything was back to normal.
So that was my exciting weekend then.

I caught a bus back towards Waterloo Bridge where I had parked. I decided to get off at the Aldwych and walk over the bridge. It was a mild evening and I love the view of London at night. Before the bridge is Somerset House and the courtyard. Usually there are fountains but just for a little while the area has been turned into an outdoor ice rink. It opens next week so it was completely deserted. I went to look at the rink and had the courtyard to myself.
Then I walked over the bridge, stopping to look at the view in both directions. I love the new Hungerford bridge and the way it is lit. I also saw the flash of cameras from people in the London Eye. I watched the people on the South Bank.
A lot of this brought back memories to me of several different times I had been in the same places. After waving to the Thames I drove back home. No delays at all.

Morning all. That was indeed a fun day, especially discovering my previously unknown bar billiards skills. Thanks all and I'll see you all again in January. Must sign up for that.

Yes, sign up! And help me persuade people that what they *really* want to do is make a fool of themsleves on ice skates...
