The BET method...

Might be a bit of tedious reading for the not so interested.

However, I tried to explain things without too much scientific mumbo-jumbo.

What do you think?

Sorry Hell, haven't got time to read it now. Most definitely interested, though.

Why are people starting to write interesting Entries when I've got no time on my hands? smiley - smiley

Right, and we're off. As a powder and corrosion metallurgist, I am probably the best man for advice, here.

- I would be tempted to tidy up the analogy a bit - maybe produce it as a UL. All those 'that is' s are making my head go round.

- Scematic = Schematic (under the diagram)

- Hysteresis does not occur 'sometimes'. My preferred turn of phrase would be 'inevitably', although that does make your calculations somewhat tricky smiley - smiley

- Temperature 'in K'. We both know what you mean, but it might be as well to put 'in Kelvin.' I think that's been the form with the past scientific entries.

- vaccum = vacuum (I think)

- Full stop missing at the end of footnote 2

Other than that, this is all good stuff smiley - ok

Yo, Masta' B, thanks a lot for your comments. Powder and corrosion huh? Nice. I'm a physico-chemist, which is a bit too long to pronounce, my grandmother thinks I am doing medicine... Well, well... Since I am doing nanotech-related stuff in porous media I always bump into BETs...

The analogy bit indeed seems a bit awkward, I must admit, it was sort of the last thing I included. If you have some suggestions... I'll give it a re-read later on

Hysteresis does not occur sometimes, you're right, but I didn't want to go all the way to explain to everyone that virtually everything has tiny cracks and pores. Maybe a footnote will do...

The rest are typical typos. I'll fix 'em ASAP.

Thanks a lot... Must go now.

I don't know - that could one of the more imaginitive of the Edited links.

Are you trying to set a record for the most-referenced author, Caper Plip?

I think the link is perfect smiley - winkeye.

I think it's great to have cross references that point to totally different stuff.. Like...

... And now to something totally different

In that sense,

I actually didn't write 'Tennis - Grass v Clay', but if you really want to you could link to 'Lawn Tennis', which I did writesmiley - winkeye

Are people referencing my Entries?smiley - yikes But I think its quite amusing to go off at a random tangent... I linked to the 2001 Wimbledon Final in my 'Norse Mythology - A Summary' Entry and it wasn't taken out...

smiley - yikesI'm plugging now... oh... that's not good...smiley - yikes

Well, the England smiley - football squad for people with learning difficulties won the World Cup this year!smiley - ok

Does that mean you're going to link to the Football World Cup 2002 Entry (which ironically, I also wrote a bit forsmiley - biggrin)?

Nah... I think that meanwhile people already KNOW which Nation plays the most sublime football in the world...

Or, what about:

Nah... I think people are getting used to see Brazil win WorldCups.

Or:

Nah... That's starting to get boring, innit?

... Hee, hee.

See you abouts Paper.

PS: That ~TwISTa~ guy??? Strange fella no?

Strange isn't the word I'd use... I hope it was okay that I used 'Typical H2G2 Newbies' as further reading when I GRed him... if he winds me up, well, I'll break his bloody arm offsmiley - biggrin

PS I love watching Brazil play... it's always so fascinating to watch... and yet there are so few Brazilians playing at club level in Britain...smiley - sadface

I hate to drift off the topic altogether, but I saw quite a lot of our World Cup squad for players with learning difficulties (I watch Eurosport). Two points sprang to mind:

1) They were _very_ talented footballers who outclassed all the opposition.

2) They were more literate and coherent in post-match interviews than, say, Owen, Beckham or Ashley Cole.

Now, don't get the wrong impression, but there must be a time when we're blurring the lines to such an extent whereby these players could hold down a decent Premiership contract. How exactly were learning difficulties defined anyway? Dyslexia doesn't stop you from playing football.

They are incredibly talented... but there was no word about it on the national news, and all they got afterwards for praise was a little walkabout on the pitch at half-time of the England (sans learning difficulties) v Portugal friendlysmiley - erm

If that was me I'd feel like a right orange...smiley - biggrin

Now, back to BET, perhaps?smiley - biggrin

Erm... let's see... I have no idea!smiley - biggrin

How about... how does BET relate to a football pitch after it has been turned into a samba party?smiley - biggrin

Post 19

Monsignore Pizzafunghi Bosselese

I hope that a 'Glasgow United' team actually exists smiley - yikes

You could measure the area of that pitch, after determining the surface area of a blade of grass and how much of that is left over after a game and a samba party...

Well, there's Glasgow Rangers, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Glasgow United...
