On this day 33 years ago I should have been born, but I wasn't so I had to find
something else to write about. So I chose a black athlete born 89 years ago who, at
the Berlin Olympics in 1936, confounded Hilter's claims of white supremacy.
Jesse Owens 1913 - 1980
Youngest of ten children of Alabama family.
High school sprinter, earning place at Ohio State.
At Berlin won gold at 100 and 200 metres
long jump and relay in front of Hitler.
Set up foundation to help children from poor backgrounds.
Died of lung cancer.
Next week we say goodbye to the esteemed editor of h2g2, Mr Mark Moxon.
So, as a tribute, why don't you try and sum up Mark Moxon in 45 words, not a word
more not a word less. Either post them on this page or my homepage and they will all
be produced in The Post during Mr Moxons last week at h2g2.
