are still quite good compared to some things.

Such as dental torture and working at the deli counter of a major supermarket, I suppose? Well, yes, but once every five years is quite enough for things like El Mundo Gira and 2Shy...

*wonders whether to admit ignorance of go look up*
El Mundo Gira: something about chupacabra (I remember the word but not the episode)
And yuck, the body-fat sucking one.
But those aren't mediocre compared to X-files, compared to X-files they're rubbish. But X-files c**p is only mediocre by normal standards.

El Mundo Gira was about the Mexican immigrants who get sprayed with a chemical that sends every fungus they come in contact with grow at a hugely accelerated rate. Death by athlete's foot, etc.
And how can you compare them to X files? They are X files! You can't compare something with itself.
And X files cr*p is cr*p by any standards!

Compared to average standard of X-files, which is good.

I haven't seen any X-files since around season 5/the movie/all the not nice agents appeared and it all became conspiracy saturated...
mediocre x-files is just mediocre, and I might even rather watch Delia Smith as it's less depressing than bad x-files. But good X-files is better than nearly anything else.

No argument from me on that!
What do we consider to be the best of X files? I'm thinking Deep Throat, Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose, Humbug, Rain King, X-Cops, Bad Blood...

*racks brains for titles as has been so long since she watched*
I liked Ice - which was the first one I watched ever. Deep Throat was high quality, Small Potatoes for the humour, heck, I can't think of others off the top of my head.

I liked Tooms (both), also Small Potatoes was really great, lots of fun.
I hope Rain King is not the one it sounds like.
There was one with an albino guy who ate pituitary glands, which was definitely scary (is that sufficient to be classified good?)

Thought the 'serial killer with superpowers' idea got done to death in the end...
Rain King was the one about the weatherman whose emotions influence how the weather behaves.
Well, I really liked it...
(Anyone see Futurama tonight? Cruel but funny Duchovny-related gag.)

I have to confess I have never watched Futurama - I always meant to, but we never quite collided. I do love the Simpsons x-files episode though

( at the Rain King episode, it was so soppy)
Futurama is good, but there's something that the Simpsons has that it never quite got.
'It's an alien! Break its legs!'
'No, wait, it's Mr Burns.'
'Aww, it's Mr Burns... Break its legs!'
(may not be quite right)

I know what you mean... the Simpsons has that weird sense of community, like this is somehow a real place.
There's a village called Springfield just down the road, and it has a nuclear facility... I nearly got a job there once...

Mmm, well, I mentioned the job possibility to my auntie and she said 'Springfield Nuclear Plant? Doesn't Homer Simpson work there?' and getting that *every single time* I ever met anyone would've got a bit tired fairly quickly.
Plus I've never really forgiven the nuclear industry for what they did to Bob Peck in Edge of Darkness.

That's a good reason. Maybe. You'd have sto skirt around it, say you worked in a power plant near to (insert name of nearby town).
