Well... or maybe you have to put more effort into understanding what Freud was on about... see the historical context... and for one thing: There´s been developments in Psychotherapie just like in any old science. I personally don´t like Freudian kind analysis (look at Woody Allen - allthough I like some of his films...)
There´s things to learn from Freud... and btw... you have to believe in afterlife etc if you want to have anything new from Freud
