Hello! I'm a newbie here, but I just wanted to say I read your article which has given me a lot of food for thought.... I think I could equate some of my experiences, being on the internet, with what one might find Baba Yaga's hut!

Hi Chikispirit!
Why is the Baba's Hut like the Internet? Sounds like a riddle!
Now let's think about the Baba Yaga's hut - in a clearing in the forest - surrounded by skulls on sticks (with lights in them) - on chicken legs that twirl around and dance - hinges and knocker made of human bones - with a warm stove inside to sleep on. The internet's like that for you?
I suppose that inside the hut there are secrets, some of which may be known, others it is better not to ask about 'lest you grow old before your time'.
I hope your experience of h2g2 is rather nicer. People are generally nice round here, in my experience.

I have found places on the internet to be like Baba Yaga's hut, yes, but I was not implying that h2g2 falls into that category...far from it. I have found that the people are much nicer here.

Well, there's another fairly tale analogy which might suit, Chikispirit - the ugly duckling story, which is about finding one's own people.

Chikispirit,
There's also stuff about life and death. The corn represents life and the poppy seeds represent death. One of Vasilisa's tasks is to sift them and thereby learn about what's real and what isn't. I'll do another entry about the symbolism to complement this one.

Lovely entry!
I certainly don't think there's any problem with the suitability of the subject matter. This isn't a work of fiction. It's a factual entry about fiction, and we have plenty of those in the Edited Guide. I think some more material on the symbolism could be accomodated - I've certainly had longer entries than this accepted.
One question: who advised Tishka to ask the scraggy gosling for help?

The leader of the second flock of geese, Ormy. Didn't I say? Oops!
to change the entry. I'll have a go at including some more symbolism and see how it goes. Thanks for the comments.

I've added a little to the entry. There's more to come on the symbolism. Best not to to it tonight - it's my son's birthday!

Glad to hear it! (Raises in salute)
I hope you get a chance to finish the entry over the next few days. If you do, I think there's a *very* good chance that a friendly Scout might recommend it quickly...

I've made some amendments and included extra information, which Anna kindly provided. I've not included the bit about the Golden Baba being hidden and the Russian soldiers who saw it dying. I'm sure I would have been asked for the source, and I wouldn't at present be able to give it.
I'm not going to go into the symbolism in this entry - there's too much really. I'll do a separate entry and link it to this.

I've just re-read it. You've obviously put a lot more into this since my first read, and the results are superb. This is excellent!
