A Conversation for Talking Point: Homelessness

In my country they have minimum standards for housing.
I remember about ten years ago I was living in a small
garage apartment when the landlord decided to make some improvement.
due to a snafu the job ended up half done and a city inspector
came by and said you have to move out now. You can not stay here tonight.
That's how I ended up homeless for the weekend. It is not a happy feeling. I see people these days living on the street, sleeping in the City rescue mission, and I empathise, but I do nothing to ease their plight. So often when a homeless person walks by our
SEP fields go up, and we just don't see them. I noticed that when
I was homeless. People that I expected at least a meal from suddenly treated me as if I was invisible. But the point I was making is that
while government can help with this problem It can also be the cause of it, like in that garage apartment that never did get finished.

Minimum housing standards are OK, I guess, as long they're
accompanied by minimum logic standards-bad house is still
better than no house at all.Try to explain that to bureaucrats, though.
