Facts:

- first shown 3rd Feb 1851 at the Observatoire with a public demonstration on 26 March of the same year commissioned by the then Prince Louis Napoléon Bonaparte, the future Napoléon III.
- in the Pantheon( just recently shown in the same place 150 years later) attached the "God eye"(an imaginary fixed point in the universe) in the ceiling
- swinging from a 67m wire
- a large white ring surrounds the area of the ossilations, marked to show the passage of time through 24 hours, seens to shift through the circle as time passes
- pendulum's plane of oscillation remains unchanged with respect to the stars even as the earth rotates. proof that the Panthéon moves around the pendulum and not vice-versa
