on Sunday.
I'd love to watch the original, but I'll go with my husband and his mum, so that's a 'no-go'. I've seen you can buy it on DVD, though, so I may do that.

Colin Firth's vocal performance is so - um - technically precise that I'm curious to learn how they approach dubbing it (I assume it's going to be dubbed rather than subtitled - subtitling probably wouldn't be so bad, oddly enough).

Surprisingly, we have all three options here, but we'll go to watch the dubbed version. My mother in law doesn't speak English too well, and I guess my husband would have some problems to understand things, too. Heck, I'd probably have problems. For that, DVD is great, you can go back and watch/listen again if you don't understand something vital.

One of the things I really liked about living in Japan was that all the British and American movies were subtitled, not dubbed (except for the ones aimed at young children who couldn't read yet). I think I saw two films all the time I was in Italy, five when I was in Kyrgyzstan, and none at all in Sri Lanka...

I'm used to it. We rarely got to watch films with subtitles.
It's different now, you can buy them on DVD, or even find a cinema showing the originals (if you live in a big enough city).
But we Germans only dub them, and don't make your own version, like our American friends.

I was talking to a Swiss student about this just today, and he said there were three versions available in Berne - the original untouched version, one with German subtitles, and one dubbed into German. That's what I call considerate...

We have it here, too, as mentioned above, but then Frankfurt is a big city, and what with the airport being here and everything... I'm not sure you get all three options in smaller towns.
